2013 Adjudicator Choral

Kathleen McGuire


With an impressive career spanning three decades, Melbourne-born, award-winning Dr Kathleen McGuire has conducted choral and instrumental ensembles in five countries on international stages including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the Sydney Opera House.


Now also a US citizen, Dr McGuire lived in California from 2000 to 2013 where she led the 250-voice San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, the Community Women's Orchestra and Singers of the Street. She earned her doctorate in conducting at the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds additional qualifications from the University of Surrey (UK), Monash University and The University of Melbourne (MCM and VCA).


Dr McGuire returned to Australia in 2013 to assume two prestigious positions: Director of Music at Queen's College - The University of Melbourne; and Vice Chair of the School of Hard Knocks Institute.   For more information about Kathleen McGuire click here .
