Roger Lemke is one of Australia's leading baritones who has achieved the rare success of combining a career as an operatic and music theatre artist as well as a performer on the concert platform.
For almost 30 years, Roger has appeared in leading roles with all of the major opera companies in Australia and New Zealand and music theatre productions including Cameron Mackintosh's Les Miserables and Cats. He performs as a guest artist in concert with some of the country's leading orchestras and has appeared on national television broadcasts.
Roger has a great passion for singing and is committed to helping nurture emerging young artists in the early stages of their careers. He is Chairman of the Australian International Opera Awards Music Board (AIOA) and works as a senior adjudicator for a number of vocal competitions across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
In 2016, Roger was appointed alongside Guy Noble (Conductor) and Cheryl Barker AM (Opera Singer) to the adjudication panel of the Opera Foundation Australia Awards. This is one of Australia’s most prestigious Operatic Scholarship programs for young singers awarding a numbers of grants to singers to study internationally.
He currently privately teaches a small select group of young singers and coaches established artists to ensure they continue to refine their technique and maintain their vocal health.
Roger is dedicated to the development of the next generation of Australian singers. He strives to impart his wealth of experience and knowledge, and in providing artistic support, guidance and encouragement to young artists as they pursue opportunities to improve their vocal technique and hone their performance skills.
